Substrates
The creation of an ideal potting mix for houseplants is essential for healthy plants and strong root systems. There are several premixed potting soils for houseplants that can be found commercially but you can make your own mix. Most indoor plant growers and avid outdoor gardeners seem to have developed their own mixes over time that works for them. Depending on your climate zone and indoor conditions, you may need to adjust your potting soil as humidity, air temperature, air flow rate, amount of light available, water quality and watering habits vary.
